Each ZOIPAN-DSR capsule
contains Pantoprazole 40mg and Domperidone 30mg.
DESCRIPTION:
ZOIPAN-DSR is the brand name for the anti-ulcerant and
antiemetic combination that effectively treats various complications that are
associated with acid reflux and ulcers.
Pantoprazole is an efficient proton pump inhibitor that
belongs to substituted benzimidazole class. Like other proton pump inhibitors,
pantoprazole blocks the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system or the proton pump system
present on the gastric parietal cells. Proton pump inhibitors are activated in
the acidic environment only. This drug prevents the final step of gastric acid
production, i.e., the inward movement of H+ ions into the gastric lumen, and
eventually reduces the levels of gastric acid and its reflux towards the chest
region.
Domperidone is a potent
anti-emetic agent that addresses nausea and vomiting along with the suppression
of acid-reflux. On peripheral levels, it increases the lower esophageal
pressure, improves the motility in the upper GI tract or peristalsis. It acts
as an antagonist of D2 and D3 dopamine receptors in the area postrema, where
lies the chemoreceptor trigger zone for nausea and vomiting.
