Hot
air oven is a laboratory instrument that uses dry heat to sterilize laboratory
equipment and other materials. Hot air oven also known as forced air
circulating oven. We can sterilize Glassware (like petri dishes, flasks,
pipettes, and test tubes), Powder (like starch, zinc oxide, and sulfadiazine),
Materials that contain oils, Metal equipment (like scalpels, scissors, and
blades) by using hot air oven. Materials like surgical dressing, rubber items
or plastic materials can not be sterilized in hot air oven.
To
destroy microorganisms and bacterial spores, a hot air oven provides extremely
high temperatures over several hours. Most of the medical industries use hot
air ovens to sterilize laboratory instruments and material due to its simple
standard operating procedure and low price. It also provides quick-drying
processes.
It is a rapid
convection heating chamber with controls for precise control of temperature and
airflow. The main advantage is it can be used either as a incubator upto 200°C
or as a incubator for temperature at 37°C. The mode of selection of oven or
incubator can be chosen from the touch panel. The control system is placed on
the top of the heating chamber, so that they are not exposed to any spillage of
liquids. The control system incorporates a touch interface and a precise PID
temperature controller. All other electronic components are housed in the
control panel. It is supplied with two trays which can be placed inside the
oven as per the convenience of the user at different positions in the slots
provided in the walls of the chamber which can be adjusted at seven different
levels. Another unique feature of wamerplus is auto temperature reduction
during cooling cycle using a motorised vent valve which eliminate hot air from
the chamber.
